Summary

A Bronze Age round barrow shown as a tumulus on the Ordnance Survey 2nd edition 6 inch map, but later levelled during construction of a sports pitch. The record for this monument has been enhanced with support from Wessex Water. The barrow is visible as a sub-circular earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs and on Environment Agency lidar imagery and was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM Project.

ST 91370870. Round barrow, now levelled. <3>

The barrow is visible as a sub-circular earthwork approximately 19m in diameter on 1940s aerial photographs [5]. A mound and a 2.5m wide outer ditch are also visible on Environment Agency lidar imagery, perhaps indicating some level of survival [6]. The feature was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM Project.

'Remains of at least seventeen barrows are found in the parish, nearly all of them levelled by ploughing. There is no record that any of them have been excavated … (30) Barrow (91370870), at over 350 ft. above O.D. on the ridge-top immediately W. of Blandford Camp, is now levelled.'
