Full Description

A cluster of ring ditches that probably form a ploughed out group of Bronze Age round barrows. Seen as cropmarks in 2007 aerial photography. <1-3>

At least eleven ring ditches can be seen as cropmarks. They vary in size with three large rings at the centre of the group, two moderate sized and at least six small rings. The cropmarks of the smaller rings are less complete and are too large to be the ring gullies of round houses although two of them appear to have portal-like openings. One of these appears oval in shape. <1-2>

There may be more ring ditches in the north east portion of the field as there are faint suggestions of cropmarks. <3>

The possible site of a Bronze Age round barrow is visible as a partial cropmark ring ditch 18m across on aerial photographs taken in 2007 <1>. The site is one of a group of features forming a larger barrow cemetery and was digitally recorded during the Dorset Middle Stour AI&M Project.
