Summary

A ditched curvilinear feature is visible as an earthwork to the east of Lytchett Matravers on 1940s aerial photographs. The feature corresponds with part of a historic curvilinear enclosure named as Fir Pound on the OS 1st Edition map and may be part of a medieval to post medieval animal pound. It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.

Full Description

A ditched curvilinear feature is visible as an earthwork to the east of Lytchett Matravers on 1940s aerial photographs [1]. The feature corresponds with part of a historic curvilinear enclosure named as Fir Pound on the OS 1st Edition map and may be part of a medieval to post medieval animal pound [2]. It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project. The feature is no longer visible on Google Earth imagery.
