Please read our .

Summary

Two areas of parallel ridged cultivation marks are visible to the east of Lytchett Matravers as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs. The features in the southernmost area are wide and curving and may be those of medieval broad ridge and furrow. The two areas are divided either side of a historic field boundary, of possible medieval to post medieval date. The area of cultivation on the north side of the field boundary are not so clear and may be of medieval origin, but a later date for these is also possible. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
