Monument record MDO45609 - Possible post medieval extractive pit, Henbury House, Sturminster Marshall

A possible post medieval extractive pit to the south of Henbury House, Sturminster Marshall, is visible as an earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery. The feature is shown but not named on the OS 1st to 3rd Edition maps and is within an area of intensive sand, gravel and clay extraction. The OS a5 Epoch map dated 1955 shows the feature as a pond, but this may be a later re-purpose. It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
