Summary

A post medieval extractive pit to the north of Boker's Farm, Lytchett Matravers, is visible as an earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs. The feature is within an area of sand, silt and clay geology and is documented on the OS 1st and 2nd Edition maps as a sand pit. It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.

Full Description

A post medieval extractive pit to the north of Boker's Farm, Lytchett Matravers, is visible as an earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs [1]. The feature is within an area of sand, silt and clay geology and is documented on the OS 1st and 2nd Edition maps as a sand pit [2, 3]. It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project. The feature may still survive below trees on 2022 Google Earth imagery [4].
