Full Description
A post medieval extractive pit to the north of Barrow Hill, Lytchett Matravers, is visible as an earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs [1]. The feature is within an area of sand, silt and clay geology and is documented on the OS 1st Edition map as an old clay pit [2]. It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project. The feature may still survive below trees on 2002 Google Earth imagery [3].
