Summary

A Second World War tower is visible as a structure on aerial photographs taken in 1943 but has been removed by 1953. The tower may have been used as an observation post for the bombing range (see MDO45344) but appears to be oval or circular and measures a maximum of 5.5m in diameter, with no great height, unlike the two bombing range observation towers (see MDO45350 & MDO45339). The tower has been removed by 1953 when the land had been converted to arable agriculture.

Full Description

A Second World War tower is visible as a structure on aerial photographs taken in 1943 but has been removed by 1953. The tower is centred at ST 9585 1125 and may have been used as an observation post for the bombing range (see ST 91 SE 248 / UID: 1481331) but appears to be oval or circular and measures a maximum of 5.5m in diameter, with no great height, unlike the two bombing range observation towers (see ST 91 SE 246 & 247 / UIDs: 1480803 & 1480804). The tower has been removed by 1953 when the land had been converted to arable agriculture. <1-2>
