Full Description
A probable Post Medieval chalk pit is visible as a soilmark on aerial photographs. The site is centred at ST 9608 1079 and comprises an amorphous area of disturbed ground and an angular quarry which are separated by one of the many paths and trackways across the common. The site extends over an area that measures a maximum of 86m long by 37m wide and is orientated roughly north-west / south-east. The quarry has been filled in on aerial photographs taken in 1953, when it is visible as a cropmark. <1-2>
