Summary

Post-Medieval garden features probably associated with the mid-19th century Old Rectory (MDO13324) are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs. The site comprises two concentric L-shaped terraces around the building, to the south of which is a curving linear bank and an S-shape pond. The bank may have been used as a walk or planted, or could perhaps have defined the northern edge of a small lake which has subsequently shrunk to become the 130m long serpentine length of water situated at the southern end of the site. An orchard and parkland trees are also marked on the 1887 Ordnance Survey map.
