Summary

Three Iron Age coins (2 silver and 1 gold) now in the Pitt Rivers collection. It is suggested that the silver coins may have been from the Iron Age and Romano-British settlement near Barton Hill Dairy.

Full Description

(ST 9212) Three Iron Age coins found at Tarrant Gunville. Two are uninscribed silver staters of the Durotriges, Mack type 317, Evans type F1-3 and one is a gold stater of British B Chute type Mack type 32, Evans type B5.

The Royal Commission suggest that the silver coins (now in the Pitt Rivers collection) may have been from the Iron Age and Romano-British settlement near Barton Hill Dairy (ST 91 SW 35). <1-2>

(17) Cottages (92201330), two adjacent, now combined to form one dwelling, have each a class-S plan. The S. tenement is the older of the two, but its upper storey was rebuilt in the 19th century. The N. tenement is of ashlar and rubble, probably taken from Eastbury.
