Full Description

ST 917155 'Celtic' fields, flattened by intensive cultivation, cover much of the north west part of Tarrant Gunville. <1, 3>

ST 917155 Area of pronounced field banks and lynchets. <2>

The remains of a fragmented 'Celtic' type field system covers a considerable area of mixed agricultural land centred at ST 917155. The spread banks are well defined where under pasture averaging 6.0m wide and up to 0.8m high and where ploughed are discernible as light chalky patches. Slight traces of 'Celtic' field pattern visible on OS air photographs <4.1>. <4>
