Summary

Public park covering an area of about four hectares. Plans for the park were commissioned from William Goldring and implemented by GJ Hunt the Borough Surveyor. The park was officially opened on the 30th July 1896. Further features were added to the park in the early 20th century.

Borough Gardens lie on the west side of Dorchester. They were laid out to a plan by William Goldring of Kew, and were opened to the public on 30th July 1896. The bandstand was donated in 1897 as a memorial to Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee.
