Full Description

Linear ditched features to the east of Tarrant Monkton are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs <2-4>. The features may be part of a trackway of medieval and post medieval date, possibly an earlier alignment of Turner's Lane (NRHE Hob UID 1479209). They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.

Part of a probably Medieval and Post Medieval trackway is visible as soilmarkson aerial photographs. The site is centred at ST 9546 0913 and comprises three sections of ditch which are roughly aligned and extend WNW / ESE over a combined distance of 545m, between ST 9519 0917 and ST 9573 0910. The middle and western sections are narrow but the easternmost measures up to 8m wide. Their western end joins Turner's Lane which could suggest that they represent an earlier form of this routeway, perhaps together with several fragmentary ditches aligned to the west. <1>
