Summary

The site of a Royal Observer Corps monitoring post. The site was built as part of an extensive network of posts designed to confirm and report hostile aircraft and nuclear attacks on the United Kingdom. It was opened in October 1960 and the post was closed in October 1968. The site was found to be in a fair condition at the time of the Defence of Britain survey. The site was located underground in a corner of a field used for caravans. 150 yards north of St. Mary's Church, Sixpenny Handley.

Full Description

The site of a Royal Observer Corps monitoring post. The site was built as a part of an extensive network of posts designed to confirm and report hostile aircraft and nuclear attacks on the United Kingdom. The site was found to be in a fair condition at the time of the Defence of Britain survey. <1>
It was opened in October 1960 and the post was closed in October 1968. The site was located underground in a corner of a field used for caravans. 150 yards north of St. Mary's Church, Sixpenny Handley. <2>
