Monument record MDO45103 - Field system on Oakley Down, Pentridge and Wimborne St Giles

Please read our .

Summary

Traces of a field system on Oakley Down, visible as cropmarks on air photographs. RCHME observed traces of lynchets surviving as earthworks up to 1 metre in height, as well as vague traces of lynchets not forming any clear field pattern. The relationship with the fields recorded as MDO6116 is uncertain, but any distinction is probably arbitrary. The area where these two "groups" of fields meet is depicted on Plan 3 in Bowen 1990.
