Full Description

18th century landscape park, at most extensive c.300ha. Estate divided 1933, leaving central area of landscape park round Milton Abbey of c.35ha. Garden and landscape at Milton abbey uncertain before mid-C18. Capability Brown called in by first Lord Milton in 1763. his work continued until at least 1782. From 130m east of Abbey Church, a grass stair, possibly of Brown's period, with a c.1780 footbridge; Gothic folly, late 18th century. [Full topographical description] LISTED GRADE II*.
