Full Description

East-west building totalling 13 bays. The earliest range comprises 4 bays and is of 2 storeys with a basement, it is of rubble stone at the east end, and is probably of late 18th century date. The fairly small window openings have wooden lintels and there is a small loading door to the first floor. The mill was extended westwards, probably in early 19th century, by the addition of a brick building of 5 bays and 2 storeys. This building has larger windows with wooden lintels. It was further extended westwards in the mid- to late- 19th century by brick building of 4 bays and 2 storeys with fairly wide windows. The ground floor windows of this have segmentally arched heads. To north of this is substantial square brick chimney. To west is a fairly long, late-19th century, single storey brick building running north-south, with blocked circular opening in south gable. To the southwest of the main range is a detached, north-south, two and a half-storey building of 4 bays, in coursed rubble stone. This building has rectangular window openings with wooden sashes and stone voussoirs. It was extended to the south and west in the late-19th century, the extensions are both of one storey. The buildings are all roofed in slate, though much of the roof of the original block has been replaced in corrugated iron. The site is presently used as a car scrapyard. The western end of the main range is occupied but the eastern part appears to be out of use. <3>
