Full Description

Thirty three small brass coins (folles of AD 306-8) were presented to Dorset County Museum (1950-63) by Mr Hugh de S Shortt who bought them from Miss Ham Smith of St Alban's Street, Weymouth in 1927; they werebelieved to be from the Weymouth neighbourhood. The composition and uniform patina of the series indicates a hoard or part of a hoard and may have been deposited in or soon after 308 AD. <1>
