Full Description
A series of parallel bank features are visible as earthworks on lidar imagery within Frances Oak Coppice, Stourpaine [1]. The banked features extend northwards from the coppice where they appear to form a trackway wiith perpendicular field boundaries. The features cover an area of 20 hectares and include a small area immediately south of the allotments at the south of the village. They are considered to be the remains of a medieval field system including strip fields and were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour Catchment AI&M Project. The features are likely to be an extension of the systems described in MDO4807 and MDO4820, some may be reused prehistoric boundaries.
