Full Description
A system of perpendicular banked field boundaries is visible as earthworks on lidar imagery to the west of Stourpaine village [1]. The boundaries predate the modern system of fields and are cut by the Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway; they are considered to be medieval or post medieval in date and were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour Catchment AI&M Project. A small area of parallel ridges are visible within the system at ST 8555 0946; they are considered likely to be medieval or post medieval cultivation marks.
