Full Description

A group of Medieval or Post Medieval earthwork features within the village of Gussage St Michael seen on aerial photography from the 1940s and 1970s. <1-2> (ST 9855 1164).

These features seem to represent settlement shrinkage in the post medieval period. Ditches and earthworks can be seen on aerial photography from 1943 in the Gussage valley to the immediate west of the village. An earthwork platform can be seen in photography from 1979 adjacent to Lower Farm. This platform appears to have a hollow way running along its north east side and may represent some former layout of the village; possibly Medieval. <1-2>
