Summary

A partial sub-circular fenced enclosure on the south side of Blandford Camp is visible on 1940s aerial photographs. The feature is within an area of First and Second World War earthworks probably used for military training and may be a barbed wire entanglement used for military training purposes. The feature was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.

Full Description

A partial sub-circular fenced enclosure on the south side of Blandford Camp is visible on 1940s aerial photographs [1].

The feature comprises a 110m by 98m oval enclosure open on its southeast side. Within the enclosure are curvilinear earthworks that may be practice trenches, used for military training. The features are within an area of First and Second World War earthworks probably used for military training and the enclosure may be a barbed wire entanglement of this date and used for military training purposes. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
