No information regarding the precise site where the finds were made was obtained during field investigation by the Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division. Classification and provenance of the implements has been requested from Salisbury Museum but appears to have been unsuccessful on both counts. <2>
[Note: The coordinates provided by the NRHE-to-HER website are not actually within Cranborne CP. Their website lists the location as Cranborne but the coordinates provided by the HER map are in Pentridge. The accessioning info from Salisbury Museum refers to Pentridge although this may be a reference to the nearest village rather than the parish it was found in. Ultimately the exact provenance is unknown].
