Full Description
There is an inscribed cross to the rear and south east of the porch. It is partially obscurred by a modern drain pipe. Two parallel grooves define the stem and are spaced 60 mm apart. The cross-beam is similarly defined by grooves. 50 mm apart. The cross is 330 mm high and its beam is 300 m wide. It stands on top of a shouldered pedestal whose width is 210 mm and height is 130 mm. The outline of this feature is also depicted by a groove. The upper side of the cross-beam leaves the stem at right angles, 120 mm below the top of the cross. The grooves are 8 mm wide and 4 mm deep. The cross is inscribed on the smooth surface of an inverted 'T'-shaped slab, whose upper edge forms the top of the cross and lower edge, the bottom of the pedestal. This slab together with others in the vicinity are different in form from the materials used in the 19th century rebuilding of the church. <1>
