Full Description

(Centred ST 79110370) Green Hill Medieval Deer Park, the smallest in Dorset, is a little over thirty acres in extent. It comprises a boundary bank 12-13ft wide and about 2ft high, with an inner ditch 10ft wide and 3ft deep, from 'A' to 'B' (see illustration). At 'C' the bank is 12ft wide and 2ft high, the ditch 10ft wide and 2ft deep. It continues much the same as far as 'D’ but is mostly shrub covered and eroded in places. From 'D' to 'E', the bank is barely traceable along the parish boundary. From 'E' to 'F', the bank is about 10ft wide and 2ft high, again with an inside ditch; it is much eroded on the steep slope. It presumably ran direct from 'F' to 'A', having been destroyed by the track and cultivation. <1>
