Full Description
Beerhall Farm was 'la Bere' in 1281 and 'Berehalle' in 1377. <1>
Bishop Brantyngham granted a licence in 1387 to Roger Grey to have a chapel or oratory at Beare in Axminster. Wilkin identifies this with Beerhall Farm (ST 35450133), there being no other Beare in Axminster. No remains of any ancient house or chapel are visible. Beerhall Farm lay in the tithing of Axminster until 1882, when it was transferred to Thorncombe. <2>
There is no trace of a chapel at Beerhall Farm, and no information of a chapel site could be obtained. <3>
