Summary

A sub-oval cropmark is visible to the east of Blandford Camp, Tarrant Monkton, on aerial photographs. The feature appears to comprise a possible partial ring ditch encompassing a central elongated oval mound and may be a long or oval barrow of possible late Neolithic date. The feature is located on the south side of a possible later prehistoric settlement (MDO44561) and may be cut on the south west and southeast sides by pit-like features associated with this (although these may be later extractive features, or possibly even geological in origin). The feature was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.

Full Description

A sub-oval cropmark is visible to the east of Blandford Camp, Tarrant Monkton, on aerial photographs [1]. The feature appears to comprise a possible partial ring ditch encompassing a central elongated oval mound and may be a long or oval barrow of possible late Neolithic date. The feature is located on the south side of a possible later prehistoric settlement (MDO44561) and may be cut on the south west and southeast sides by pit-like features associated with this (although these may be later extractive features, or possibly even geological in origin).
