Full Description
A sub-oval mound 34m by 24m and of uncertain date is visible as earthworks and cropmarks to the northeast of Blandford Camp, Tarrant Launceston, on aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery [1 -3]. The mound is located on the south side of a late prehistoric linear earthwork/trackway (MDO44552 and within an area of complex later prehistoric to Roman activity generally. Visible as a faint cropmark on a 1997 aerial photograph, a short linear ditch crosses the feature, and potentially overlies it [2].
The feature was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
