Full Description
A post medieval chalk quarry and trackway are visible as earthworks to the east of Pimperne on 1940s aerial photographs and on Environment Agency lidar imagery [1, 2]. The feature comprises a roughly triangular depression, with lidar suggesting a linear extension to the northeast, along the hedgeline. A trackway is visible on a 1944 aerial photograph, accessing the quarry from the road to the northwest [1]. The quarry is shown as 'old quarry' is recorded on the OS 1st Edition map; the trackway is also recorded [3]. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project. [1, 2].
