Full Description
A concentration of sub-circular pits or hollows are visible as cropmarks to the west of Pimperne on an undated aerial photograph [1]. The features appear in some cases cut into the sides of a group of Bronze Age barrows at this location, with a further two pits cut against part of a trackway of unknown date (MDO44488) but possibly of prehistoric origin. The pits are also of uncertain date, but the association of features suggest possible post medieval chalk pits. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
