Summary

The Fish Cross stood a little to the west of the Town Hall. The building had a lead roof and was in existence about 1780. Upjohn's Plan of Shaftesbury 1799, does not show the building, so that it seems to have been removed between 1780 and 1799.

Full Description

ST 86292292. The Fish Cross stood a little to the west of the Town Hall. The building had a lead roof and was in existence about 1780. (Willis's plan depicts the building as a rectangular and oriented NE-SW. It is described as 'Fish Cross'. Upjohn's Plan of Shaftesbury 1799, does not show the building, so that it seems to have been removed between 1780 & 1799). <1-3>

The site falls in a built up area and no visible trace of the Fish Cross remains. <4>
