Full Description

Possible fragments of Prehistoric or Roman enclosures, or boundaries, are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. There are numerous geological cropmarks in the same field but these appear to be on different alignments to the possible archaeological cropmarks. Parts of three irregular ditches measure up to 22m long. More possible enclosures are situated to the north-west - see NMR monument 1539333 [MDO44448]. They are centred at ST 5877 1485.

The cropmarks were interpreted and mapped during an English Heritage project on a nearby Roman Camp (Monument 1524583). All available aerial photographs of this area were examined, including those from the NMR, online sources, and the local HER. <1-2>
