Full Description
A series of narrow ditched curvilinear features are visible as cropmarks on Keyneston Down, Tarrant Rawston, on aerial photographs [1, 2]. The features are located surrounding and adjacent to a rectilinear enclosure (MDO5030) of possible Late Bronze Age/Early Iron Age date. The northern section of the easternmost linear feature potentially corresponds with a ditch (MDO37367) excavated as part of the Corfe Mullen to Salisbury Water Transfer Scheme (Evaluation trench 74), which produce Late Bronze Age/Early Iron Age pottery. The ditched linear features may, therefore, be field/enclosure boundaries and/or trackways contemporary with this date (and the enclosure), although a later origin for some is also possible. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
