Fragmentary remains of a field system of possible Iron Age or Roman date. All remains have been levelled, except those on slopes, and no complete fields survive.

Full Description

ST 880180 Fragmentary remains of 'Celtic' fields are all levelled except those on steep slopes. At ST 884187 scarps are visible but no complete fields. <1-4>

This area of arable downland shows extensive but fragmentary evidence of a 'Celtic' type field system now almost completely destroyed by modern agriculture.

Centred ST 88331860 In an area of about 4 ha, well preserved scarps up to 0.7m high lie diagonally across the steep north west facing slope below Clubmen's Down. These 'Celtic' field remnants are best defined when viewed obliquely from the south side of Compton Down at ST 883190). <5>
