Full Description

ST 87901940 to ST 87951895 Contour and cross-contour strip lynchets of Medieval type extend for 450.0 m north-south along the turf covered steep west facing slope of Compton Down. The northern and best preserved terrace is about 225.0 m long, 3.0 m in height and of average 7.0 m wide. Terraces higher up the slope to the south appear to be in early stages of development, and average 1.5 m high and 3.0 m wide. Located during field investigation. Visible on OS air photographs. <1>
