Full Description
Ditched linear and curvilinear features are visible as cropmarks in a field to the east of Tarrant Rushton on aerial photographs [1-3]. The features appear to comprise a partial rectilinear enclosure 144m wide by 75m deep, and associated field boundaries and/or trackways. They are thought likely to represent a small settlement and associated field system of probable later prehistoric date. At the southern end, the features adjoin a curvilinear enclosure already recorded under MDO32034/NRHE Hob UID 1622747 and which may be related. The settlement/field system extends for almost 830m on a northwest-southeast alignment, the eastern side extending below the west side of the former Tarrant Rushton airfield.
The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
