Summary

A small pit excavated in 1992 by AC Archaeology during archaeological works in advance of an extension to the sewerage works. The pit was roughly circular and around 0.75m in diameter. The filling of the pit contained chalk lumps, worked flint and small sherds of pottery, but could not be dated precisely.

‘Pit 9 was a small feature in the south-west corner of the stripped area. Roughly circular, it was 0.75 in diameter and c.0.20m deep. The filling of pale chalky soil contained small rounded chalk, occasional larger chalk lumps, worked flint and small sherds of essentially undatable pottery.’
