Monument record MDO44 - Barrow east of White Hill Plantation, Abbotsbury

A Bronze Age bowl barrow. In 1959 this monument was reported as being around 30 feet in diameter with a flinty mound about 2 feet high. This barrow is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs taken in 2006.

A bowl barrow; diameter 15 paces, height 2ft. Flints occur in its composition. <2>

A grass covered ditchless bowl barrow with a diameter of 13.0m and a height of 0.3m. The surface of the mound shows a quantity of large flints. <3>

SY 58708643. Abbotsbury 20. Grinsell described this barrow as 15 paces in diameter and 2 feet in height. Flints in composition. <4>

A bowl barrow is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs <6> to the east of White Hill Plantation. The site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
