Summary

The Church of St Juthware and St Mary has mediaeval origins, but there is evidence that Halstock was a minster in the Late Saxon period. The church is a plan of 15th century West tower, nave and chancel, although the latter were rebuilt in 1770. The nave was again rebuilt in 1845-6 by Thomas Stent, probably to the designs of AWN Pugin, and the chancel again later in the 19th century.
