Summary

Perpendicular ditches are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs to the east of New Road, Shapwick. They are considered likely to be field boundaries and a possible trackway of later prehistoric or Roman date and were digitally recorded during the Dorset Middle Stour AI&M Project.

Full Description

A pair of ring ditches are visible as cropmarks on air photographs taken 15 April 2002. Also visible, albeit more faint, are possible linear features and an enclosure. <2>

Perpendicular ditches are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs to the east of New Road, Shapwick <2>. They are considered likely to be field boundaries and a possible trackway of later prehistoric or Roman date and were digitally recorded during the Dorset Middle Stour AI&M Project. The double ditched 'trackway' runs perfectly east-west towards the Roman fort (MDO6031) and may be contemporary with it.
