Full Description

A group of round barrows on Deverel Down in Milborne St Andrew and Winterborne Whitechurch parishes. 'G' - SY 82359933. Grinsell <2> lists a bowl barrow at this position (Milborne No 10a), 13 paces diameter and ?6 ins high quoting the RCHM records. However, in the RCHM Inventory <3> no mention of this barrow is made.

'The grid reference places the site on the parish boundary between Winterborne Whetechurch and Milborne St Andrew. To S of fence is Longthorns Plantation which consists of mature and coniferous and deciduous trees. To N is a field regularly ploughed, newly ploughed and planted with grass when visited. No visible trace although its position would be a good one. Papworth MDJ, TWA 18.12.85.'
