Full Description

An area of post medieval water meadow at Tarrant Monkton is visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs [1]. The water meadow extends for a distance of over 400m along the River Tarrant, at the southeast end of Tarrant Monkton, comprising a linked system of channels and sluices, forming bedworks. The main water channels and sluice system is recorded on the OS 1st Edition 1:2500 map. The feature is no longer visible on current lidar imagery.

The feature was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
