Summary

A probable Bronze Age round barrow is visible as a sub-circular earthwork circa 9m in diameter. It is probably the plough levelled remains of the chalk mound of a Bronze Age round barrow. There is no sign of any surrounding ditch or internal feature such as a funerary deposit. An elliptical depression in its west side suggests possible excavation in antiquity.

Full Description

A possible Bronze Age round barrow is visible as a soilmark on aerial photographs. The site is centred at ST 9392 0965 and is suggested by a lighter coloured circular macula measuring 8m in diameter. It is probably the plough levelled remains of the chalk mound of a Bronze Age round barrow, several of which are known in this area. There is no sign of any surrounding ditch or internal feature such as a funerary deposit. <2, 2.1>

A probable Bronze Age barrow is visible c 100m to the south of Dairy Farm, Tarrant Launceston, as a sub-circular earthwork c 9m in diameter on an aerial photograph dated 1976 <1> and as a cropmark on an aerial photograph dated 1999 <2, 2.1>. The earthwork is visible as a low circular mound with an elliptical depression in its west side, suggesting possible excavation in antiquity.
