Summary

An inhumation burial was exposed in 1836 during building of the road around Whitcombe Hill. The burial seems to have been contracted, but it seems likely to be Romano-British like burials near by.

'(26) Whitcombe Hill … An inhumation burial, apparently contracted but of unknown date, was found at a depth of 3 ft. about ½ m. to N.E. in making the loop road round Whitcombe Hill (D.C.C., 19 May 1836).'
