Full Description

A cluster of dark patches within a worked woodland area that are possibly Post Medieval charcoal burning platforms. Seen as soil marks on 2007 aerial photography. <1>

(ST 8987 1524). It is disputable whether these marks are the product of burning following woodland clearance rather then being caused by charcoal production. The area in question appears wooded in a 1927 OS map.
