Summary

A paved ford of flint and pebbles crossing Caundle Brook was discovered in 1896. It follows alignment of the Stock Gaylord to Staunton Caundle path.

Full Description

(ST71841398. Ford sited from OS 2" 1808-9) During 1896, a paved ford was discovered in the Caundle Brook on the line of a path from Stock Gaylord to Staunton Caundle. It was paved with flint and worn pebbles. A new bridge was built on the spot using the ford as a foundation. <1>
