Full Description

Earthworks of a two parallel banks forming an arc, possibly part of a curvilinear enclosure over 100m across of uncertain date (possibly later prehistoric or Roman) which is visible on aerial photographs taken in 2015 as part of the Historic England Reconnaissance Recording programme. The site can be seen on the edge overlooking the south-facing slope of a deep combe. This represents just over 1/4 of an entire circuit. Google Earth images dated 2002 show the middle ditch between the two banks extending into the field to the north. The south-eastern end of the arc disappears into a patch of bushes or gorse which appear to continue the line of the curve on the northern side. The two banks are also recorded on the 1st edition OS map, but no further indication of the nature of the site. <1>
