Summary

A small bronze hoard consisting of two bracelets and a torc was found during the 19th century at Hazelbury Bryan. The hoard is of Middle Bronze Age date.

Full Description

A small bronze hoard found at Haselbury Bryan (Hazelbury Bryan at ST 7408) consisted of two Late Bronze Age bracelets and a torc with spiral flutings. The torc was originally broken into two parts, one piece, together with the bracelets being purchased by the British Museum in 1892. The other portion was deposited in Dorset County Museum but was re-united with the remainder of the hoard at the British Museum about 1934. A facsimile in bronze of the whole hoard was also presented to the Dorset County Museum. <1>

The bronze hoard from Hazelbury Bryan "Was found 18 inches below the surface in draining a field" and registered by the British Museum as 1892, 9-1, 326-8 having been acquired from John Durden of Blandford in 1892. <2-3>
