Full Description

A station on the Admiralty Shutter Telegraph system to Plymouth, constructed 1806, was formerly situated at Telegraph Hill, High Stoy. Adjoining stations were Nettlecombe Tout to the east and Toller Down to the west. The shutter telegraph ceased operation in September 1814. <2>

The Stoy Hill Telegraph is illustrated, and a general account of the Admiralty Telegraph System is given. <3>
